The family name has variously been spelled Widrig, Weitherick, Widrick,Weiterick, Weiderick, and Witrig.

From page 316 of an unknown publication: Town of Schuyler, cont'd. -Michael Weiterick ‎(Widrig)‎, Hassenclever Immigrant, came from Germany1765 with at least four of his children. He settled near the MohawkRiver on the farm afterward known as the Van Vleck place. His wife'sname was Maria Catherine and of the children three of the sonswere in the Revolutionary War with their father.

Michael Weiderick, either father or son, was at the Battle of Oriskanyand the aother was at Fort Stanwix at the same time. Just which waswhich we have been unable to determine.
