Ethel May JOHNSON, 85, 1401 Elm St., died unexpectedly at 9:25 a.m. Sunday in Woodlawn Hospital shortly after admittance.
She was born May 13, 1899 in Marshall County to Nathan H. and Pearley KINDIG SWIHART. She lived most of her life in this area. She was married June 10, 1918 in Ladysmith, Wis. to Amos M. JOHNSON, who died Nov. 6, 1945. She was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James (Mable I.) BARNES, Fort Pierce, Fla., and Mrs. Walter (Pearley F.) JEWELL, Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Lamar F. [JOHNSON], Bristol; five grandchildren, Mrs. Steve (Marianne) MOORE, Rochester Alan JOHNSON, Elkhart; Karen EVANS, Fort Pierce, Fla., and Pamela CALIENDO and Dennis JEWELL, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ross SWIHART, South Bend. A great-grandson and three brothers preceded in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of God with the Revs. John PHILLIPS and C.J. MOWRER officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster & Good Funeral Home in Rochester from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, on Wednesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and at the church for an hour before services. Memorials may be made to the Church of God.
